Do you use granular or liquid dishwashing detergent?

I don’t know why, but I’ve always used the granular stuff, and it seemed fine enough. But recently, Cascade asked me to try out their liquid variety and let you know what I thought. Since I was already using the Cascade granular, that seemed like a perfect opportunity for comparison. Here’s the claim for Cascade Complete:
Cascade Complete takes care of every step of the wash process so you don’t have to. That means there’s no need to prewash most dishes like you had to before. Its formula dissolves tough food particles so they don’t get stuck on other dishes or trapped in your machine, leaving your dishes clean and shiny!
Is it true? Well, yes, pretty much! I’m not one who sticks my dishes into the washer with gobs of food left on them anyway, especially since we don’t run it every day. This has more to do with not wanting to attract ants than being afraid of the detergent not working though :-)
We also don’t use the hot air dry feature of the cycle, preferring to just allow the hot dishes to sit and air dry without added electricity. So we are pretty good candidates for spots, but I’ve never had much problem with that with either form of Cascade detergent.
My biggest problem is my water quality…we have a fair amount of rust in our town water, and short of installing a whole house filtration system, I rely on my products to not make the rust worse. I’ve found that the Cascade liquid is at least as good, if not even a bit better, at keeping the rust sheen off my dishes. It’s hard to tell since I’ve only tested one bottle, but I think that even the inside of my dishwasher is a bit cleaner!
Cool! An added benefit I wasn’t expecting :-)
