Book review: The Bread Machine Book

The Bread Machine Book
by Marjie Lambert
After my last review, of Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day, where I proclaimed how much I liked kneading dough, you’re going to think I’m a big fat hypocrite!! Well, I’m not…I’m just really really busy ;-)
Before my kids were born, I made all of our bread. I loved making bread, and I was really good at it. My loaves were good enough to give as gifts. But enter a couple of kids, especially once they hit school and I was working part-time, and the bread baking became more of a special event than an every week occurrence. Still, I swore that I would “NEVER USE ONE OF THOSE BREAD MACHINES!!!”
Ahem. Didn’t I realize one should never say never?
Because I do use one now, an Oster, and I love it to death! It makes great bread, even though the loaves have a little hole in the bottom from the paddle. When I want it to look good (or be a different shape), I can just do the dough cycle and to the shaping and baking myself. But the major point is that I’m now making a lot of bread, good healthy tasty soul-satisfying bread, and I wasn’t before :-)
Marjie Lambert’s book is not the newest one on the market, but it’s the one that I love. She has a new edition, called the New Bread Machine Book, which I intend to check out.
